Introducing Digit 360

A Meta FAIR Release

An artificial finger-shaped tactile sensor that digitizes touch with human-level precision. Equipped with over 18 unique sensing features, Digit 360 allows researchers to either combine its various sensing technologies or isolate individual signals for in-depth analysis of each modality. Digit 360 significantly surpasses previous sensors, detecting spatial details as fine as 7 microns and forces as small as 1 millinewton. Its rapid response time enables it to process touch information up to 30 times faster than humans, setting a new standard in tactile sensing technology.

What is Digit 360?

Digit 360 is a modular platform which provides rich, multi-modal digital touch-sensing capabilities through a hemispherical compliant embodiment. Digit 360 contains high-resolution sensors (~8.3 million taxels) that respond to omnidirectional touch, capture multi- modal signals, and use on-device artificial intelligence to process the data in real time.
